Overview

In this article, we will walk you through how to manually clean up your contact list in STRINGConnect, step by step. This is the process to follow if you want to maintain your list yourself rather than having our team handle it for you.

Why List Cleanup Matters

Over time, every contact list accumulates contacts that no longer belong there: people who never engaged, duplicate records, invalid email addresses, and old leads that went nowhere. A clean list means better email deliverability, more accurate reporting, and a clearer picture of who your actual audience is.

Step 1: Find and Remove Bounced or Invalid Emails

Start here, because bounced emails are the most direct threat to your sender reputation.

See the full walkthrough in [How to Find and Remove Hard Bounces and Invalid Emails] for detailed steps on both methods.

Step 2: Find and Merge Duplicate Contacts

Duplicates inflate your list and can cause the same person to receive your emails twice.

See the full walkthrough in [Manage and Merge Duplicates] for step-by-step instructions.

Step 3: Remove or Reassign Unengaged Contacts

These are contacts who have been on your list for a while but have never opened or clicked any of your emails.

  1. Go to Contacts
  2. Click Filters
